1967 - The Oyster Sea-Dweller, waterproof to a depth of 2,000 feet (600 metres), is introduced.The Sea Dweller is sturdier model of The Submariner which appeared in the early 1970's, 1978 - The Oyster Perpetual Date Sea-Dweller is tested waterproof to a depth of 4,000 feet (1,220 metres)it has stronger case and crystal. The Sea-Dweller incorporates a helium escape valve for use with helium-based breathing gas mixtures in saturation diving.{The current model (ref 16600) is guaranteed waterproof to 1220 metres/4000feet.
